The chartreuse green of the first leaves… A field of wheat planted last fall…… The grass greening, even if it does need cutting mid-April! The rhubarb is early this year too…. Spring green goes well with any color…. like pink… or red and yellow…. or blue…… or purple….. or white….. ….or Sunshine in The Meadow. It’s Mother Nature’s perfect accent color! But not this kind of white! For that you need evergreen! Snow on April 21?
Lovely photos–the part of your experience that looks like spring is a little ahead of us. But the part that this looks like winter, is exactly what we’re seeing here. I’ll bet all those plants are confused.
We have had an early spring here, with a few days of summer like weather earlier in April which brought everything out, but woke to several inches of snow this morning – those poor plants what must they think? Mother Nature make up your mind!
You have provided a visual feast for the eyes today – all your photographs are lovely to look at. While you are getting some unexpected snow, our journey into the colder weather gets interrupted by summer temperatures and hot Berg winds. The seasons have yet to finally decide which one is going to get the upper hand!
My cousin in Minnesota says it snowed there this morning, and an Indiana blogger posted photos of April 21st snow. Good grief! Here I bask in warm sun, but chilly nights remain the rule since Easter Sunday.
It’s all melted now Jo, and we are to have nice weather again starting on Friday. Still it was a shock to see a couple of inches on the grass and the poor tulips all bent over! Last year we had snow flurries on Mother’s Day May11, so it’s not all that unusual….just unappreciated!
How wonderful the colors you have already! We had three daffodils bloom, but everything else is far behind. I did hear a hummingbird today – first of the season.
Your spring will come…I’m kind of disappointed that our flowers were so early as my daffodils are done now as I love May when the weather is a bit warmer.
The colors sure are vibrant – “the white stuff” looks pretty but was totally unnecessary on Mother Nature’s part. Unbelievably, we will have 84 degrees this coming Tuesday so everything will blossom and leaf out then. Spring is such a beautiful time and something we look forward to. Your mom’s paintings are beautiful as always … I hope you tell her each time you use them in a blog post; she would love to know that.

I stayed up late last night as I had 9 hours of sleep, but am about to exit here, before finishing comments as I’m going to watch Mad Men. I did not go to Reader tonight at all and it is getting harder to keep up. I did the extra post this week which did not help either.
The photo I posted doesn’t do that Spring Painting of mom’s justice as the colors in real life are really vibrant. I took it on a cloudy day so there wasn’t enough light coming through the window. I’m behind in Reader too – haven’t read since Wed and am too tired tonight. Enjoy your show!
That’s too bad – you should take a small table lamp and put it close unless it casts shadows. Because I can’t open my outside metal blinds, it is not really light in the house (except for the bathroom LED lights which you could do surgery in there!) Whenever I take photos in my room or the kitchen (of 5K swag or squirrel treats) you will always see shadows in my pictures. I put stuff on top of the laptop and use the gooseneck lamp and still the light is awful. I stayed here on Comments and never got to Reader but didn’t start my shows until about 9:30 – usually I start at 7:30ish. I still watched two hours of it, but got to bed late.
I’ve been trying to get more sleep. I got home early today as I had stuff to do in the house, wanted to sort through some pictures and got here late. I didn’t start my post for Monday but have the photos picked so will have to write it tomorrow. I hope to be at Reader soon. Like you, I may start off keeping up the beginning of the week, but after the Wordless Wednesday post, it seems I never recover. 🙂 This was a bad week for me though – I worked Sunday night, had the dentist Monday (much angst over whether to go), had the COVID shot and grocery store Tuesday, then the after-effects. Too many distractions for me at one time. And I am dealing with these ants which has me frustrated … it has been 2 1/2 weeks and it’s gotten better in the kitchen but not in the bedroom and bathroom. If it was spiders or centipedes I’d be beside myself. It only lasts 3-4 weeks and next year I may just get an outside perimeter spray – I don’t want the perimeter inside … did that before and smells too bad on a hot, humid or rainy day.
Your flowers beds are gorgeous Joni and I love that you show your mom’s paintings too. I put my hummingbird and oriole feeders out yesterday so I am waiting!

I haven’t been able to enjoy the yard much. The temps are fine, but the wind is awful.
