Not all fall colors are found on the trees. Some drift down on the soft autumn breeze While Anne delighted in the beauty of the season Jane’s flare for satire was fun for a reason Some folks like apples – red, juicy and round While others admire the gourds on the ground And some just prefer to paddle around Admiring the foliage with all of it’s hues While others prefer the more mellower views Some are just happy it’s red plaid weather While others plan to escape altogether. Enjoy the last days of autumn in all of it’s cheer For that cold nasty white stuff will quickly be here!
Thanks Arlene. It is striking colorwise. I took it at the small children’s animal farm when I was searching for ducks for last weeks post. All the buildings there are such a vibrant red.
Every year I declare that Fall is my FAVORITE season. This year it seems to be passing through like a whisper jet . . . here today, almost gone tomorrow.
I would say we are at the peak of fall just now, which is late, but better that than never. I thought the leaves would just fall off dry, but now they are vibrant colors and it was 60 today and lovely out.
Thanks Annie! I’m not a poet so had some struggles with the rhyming, but how much time am I going to spend on a wordless wednesday! I could say our leaves are just peaking now, which is late too, but the weather is still warm so I’m enjoying it while I can, as flurries are forecast next week and parts of the west and north may get up to 40 cm of snow!
I’m going to ignore your reply to Annie and stand by my original comment. It’s a great poem, Joni! The photos add a great deal but the words could stand on their own if they wanted to. Well done, especially for a Wordless Wednesday! š
Thanks Dave! That’s very generous of you. I did struggle with a couple of the rhymes. I’ve never actually written any poetry at all, as it was a subject I never liked in high school, (the analysis ruined it for me), but I like rhymes and always thought it might be fun to write song lyrics…not the music though.
I love all the colors of Fall – it is my favorite season, despite the fact it leads into Winter which I despise. You did a wonderful job capturing the beautiful shades of Fall, from those stunning Maple leaves to the pumpkins. I like your mom’s painting as well. The last picture is what I anticipate will be greeting you and me tomorrow morning – ugh. As I type this comment, I have a flashing message in red and black that says “Could not retrieve comments for post.” Hmm – didn’t want to retrieve those 24 comments but I have no clue why I’m getting that message and hope you get this comment!
Yes, when I returned it worked, however if you look what I sent you, I thought maybe you were making changes to your blog, like an update, retooling it, etc. since it was not a normal message. Glad I finally got the comment posted as I tried multiple times. I have just finished catching up in Reader and responding to comments and am going to read a book. I will do my posts for next week tomorrow, but when I sat down I aimed to get six days done. I’ve not been that behind in a while.
I did get one error message when I signed out, something about my list of Readers not being available, so I signed out and went back in and it seems okay. I hope I haven’t been hacked? Signing off anyway. Will deal with it all tomorrow.
That is strange and I am just going through the notifications/comments area and some spammer had made “likes” on all kinds of comments on blog posts that were very old plus “liked” comments I made on other blogger’s posts. No rhyme or reason to it at all.
Everything seems to be okay from my end now Linda. I made a few comments this morning and they posted okay, and people replied to them. But I did notice that yesterday I had quite a few views from a country I don’t want to mention, and a lot of them were just on the Home/the front page of my website, not on an actual post, so I expect they were hackers looking for a way in. I think sometimes when you get that error message in the black and red about not being able to post, maybe WP just is vetting because of unusual traffic flow? But I’m just guessing. I checked my spam and only have 87 spam comments, which is not a great amount. I do not even delete them anymore, just wait for WP to batch delete from their end.
I just sent you an e-mail of the message I got when I tried to comment in Reader. It made no sense, so I thought I’d try again before I moved on. The photos are just gorgeous and you have brought out the colors of the season at their finest Joni.
A lovely reminder of why Fall is my favorite season. It is a reminder I need late in the season (which technically has another several days to go) when most of my reasons for loving it have disappeared.
And I admire anyone who will commit to rhyme, no matter for how short a time.
Thanks JP! Fall seems a long time ago now with the trees so bare, but I’m grateful our temps. are still mild enough that I can put up my outside decorations without freezing.
Gorgeous colors and pictures! I will hate to see it end.

I do love autumn. The leaves have been taking their time in the garment-changing department. But Iām in no rush for what comes next.

Lovely photos and words to match. Fall this year has been better than I expected considering all the rumors of a long cold winter ahead.
