#Once in A Blue Moon – Soundtrack Saturday

Let your photos and music tell your story.

A little midnight soul music for Halloween…..
Blue moon….
You saw me standing alone….
You saw me saying a prayer for….someone I really could care for….
And then there suddenly appeared before me….
The only one my arms will ever hold….
I heard somebody whisper please adore me…..and when I looked the moon had turned to gold…..
Blue moon, now I’m no longer alone……without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own.
The Bride of Frankenstein and Mr. Bones – together for all eternity.
Happy Halloween – watch out for ghosts!

A second full moon in the same month is referred to as a blue moon. This only happens once every 2 or 3 years, hence the expression once in a blue moon meaning rarely, and only every 19 years does it occur on Halloween night. Tarot card readers say a blue moon signifies change and according to medieval folklore it foretold that something impossible or absurd was about to happen – as if we needed anything else this year – so stay tuned!

Hold onto your hats folks – it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Thanks Debbie! The song had been stuck in my head for a few days and the Halloween display was the muse. I think I might do some more soundtracks but call them Music Mondays, esp as I’ve no time to write these days. I hope it’s not winter there!

Loved Ella, as always, and enjoyed your story in pictures. Totally forgot to go outside and look at the blue moon!

“Something impossible or absurd,” eh? Not sure any of us are ready for that!

Hope you’re ok—and that whatever is cutting into your writing time is something of your choosing!

It was cloudy so I didn’t get to see it either, although there were more kids out trick or treating than I expected here, but we don’t have any Covid cases at present. Yes, I wonder what absurd impossible thing will happen this week! Scary times. Mom’s art exhibit is up now so busy with that the past few weeks, and now we have PR to do, and a whole week ahead of nice weather in the 60’s and sunny in the forecast and I’m just not too motivated to write right now!

I looked at the blue moon on Saturday night and hummed the song you shared here. So often it’s cloudy here on significant moon nights, but not this year. Then I said what I’ve said to the moon since I was a child: “I see the moon and the moon sees me. God bless the moon and God bless me.”

I enjoyed this post Joni – so creative, not only the writing, but the photos too. Here in the U.S., Halloween is considered the second biggest decorating holiday. Seems hard to believe, but it is soon catching up with Christmas. Is this painting one of Mom’s?

Yes, she did it on a long piece of canvas which I put outside the front door on Halloween, at least during the years I did Halloween. It’s a real nail-biter this morning re Michigan…..I can’t stand to watch it, I just want to know the end result..

All these hours later (11 since you wrote this), they finally called Michigan for Joe Biden. But, in the meantime as you have likely heard, Trump has filed lawsuits to stop the ballot counting. I had to laugh as I thought to myself: Trump said it looked like Coronavirus cases were bad as all they do is count them and find more cases; now he wants counting stopped as to the ballots as they are finding too many. That is wrong on so many levels. Joe Biden gave a nice speech this afternoon, never admitting that he has won, but saying it appears likely that he/Harris will win. Civility will rule now (thankfully). That is nice how your mom painted that long canvas with the witch – very creative. You’re lucky no one tried to steal it back in the day when you had it on the front door. It would not last long here,

I was on the phone with AT&T and then Allstate Insurance, then where did my evening go? Sigh. I missed Trump’s speech tonight, so went over to YouTube and listened to it in its entirety – 16 minutes talking about how unfair it is with the mail-in ballots … blah, blah, blah. I think Biden will get in as many of the pollsters and experts say, but I have to hand it to him (Biden) … he says “I’m confident we’ll win the presidency” but he never declares himself the winner like Trump. Trump is making a fool out of himself with the lawsuits – the one in Michigan was dismissed today and in another state. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Biden and no more hangups.

It was an embarrassing speech for the President of the United States….a whole lot of rambling and lies and accusations etc. Pathetic really – he looked haggard and took no questions from the press……just lumbered out. Sore loser mode….

Yes, I thought the same thing Joni and lots of people are talking about the dejection and also saying he should just concede as soon as Joe Biden reaches the 270 electoral votes (he has been at 253 for two days now). But he has said he will not concede. As he walked away, reporter Jim Acosta, who likes sparring with Trump and Trump really hates called out to him “are you a sore loser?” On CNN, Anderson Cooper said Trump during this press conference looked like a fat turtle on its back, arms and legs flailing. He has filed countless lawsuits – I lost track how many, but lost here. Biden has already put together his transition website and began meetings re: COVID and other items. Biden was supposed to speak tonight, but since they didn’t “call” the election, I don’t think he will. We have had a lot of commotion in Detroit today, some arrests. Crazy!

I watched Anderson when he said the flailing turtle comment – quite descriptive. And good on Jim Acosta, cause sore loser just about sums it up. Jim Acosta was banned from the White House press a few years ago, CNN filed a lawsuit and he won and was allowed back in – freedom of the press etc, so he must be enjoying this moment of poetic justice. He always reminds me of a young George Clooney. Still no call tonight, but things look much better.

Finally there is a decision. We had college football going on today in Michigan on both AM radio all-news channels. They used to stream the news but don’t anymore. They shut the news off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. I got back from walking early afternoon and switched on the news just in case there was news and they broke in to announce he had won – what a relief! You’re right- Jim Acosta does look like a young George Clooney (like he looked on E.R. years ago … I loved that show). I was doing some things in the house, put on CNN.com to see Biden give his acceptance speech, but the motorcade is running behind so I just came here and will catch it tomorow. I am relieved.

That’s one that will go down in history. I suspect he must have thought of it before hand, on the other hand maybe it was just an off the cuff remark – anyway it was priceless.

I thought so too – he made a few quips tonight about forgetting how a president could make a speech and only mention the crowd size in passing (not comparing it to someone else’s crowd) or how many votes Biden got was a passing comment, not to be dwelled upon. I like Anderson Cooper – I’ve been following a lot of their campaign and debate coverage online as I cancelled my cable years ago.

We didn’t see it at all as it was cloudy, but I suspect it wasn’t actually blue here either! Although not particularly a favorite of mine, the song was stuck in my head, but she does make it sound better.
